The MTC is AWESOME

Check out Nate's first email!

Hellllloooooooooo family,

Thanks for the email addresses pops and thanks for the letter as well! Well the past 3 days have been very good. The MTC is AWESOME. It’s like EFY but on steroids. You’re so busy that you’re exhausted at all times but you’re somehow able to get through all of it. It was really hard to say goodbye to you guys but the moment that I walked away I knew I would be fine. I haven’t even been homesick at all (crosses fingers). Not that I wouldn’t love to see you all and be with you, but that there is a bigger purpose that I need to accomplish so I’m not even worrying about it.
The spirit at the MTC is very strong! I’ve probably felt it more here and learned more here than I have in my entire life! We’ve learned a lot in classes, mostly on how to find what our investigators needs are in being able to bring them closer to Christ. We’ve also been learning alot on how to rely on the spirit. We’re told to rely on the spirit to let us know what Christ would say to that person if He were talking to them. We’re supposed to try to see them how the Lord sees them and try to imagine how the Lord feels about them.
My companions are AWESOME. I’m in a trio (which is cool, but can also be really hard). One of my companions is Elder Nathan Harris from Lehi, UT. He’s 24 years old and he is awesome. He has a very strong testimony and listens to the spirit really well. My other companion is Elder Alexander Satele pronounced Saw-Tele (like telephone) he’s almost 21 and from Samoa, he has an awesome testimony. He struggles a little as he tries to adapt to american culture but he has a good heart and a strong testimony. We’re also the only Elders in our room! Most have 6 and we just have 3, so that’s awesome. Our district is made up of us 3 Elders and 6 sisters. Most of us are going to Houston but 3 of the sisters are going to Virginia.
Last night I was assigned District Leader. We met with the branch president and we all introduced ourselves, gave testimonies, and then president took us out and interviewed us personally. He said he was really impressed with me and asked me to be DL. I’m not sure why, but I guess there must be some reason. Today me and my companions are going to teach our first “lesson”. It’s just going to be an MTC employee acting but we’re still excited. I have been so busy that I haven’t even thought about taking pictures, so hopefully by next week I will have some pictures to share with everyone.
Well that’s most of what has happened these few days, in my letter home I’ll go over some more detail with the spiritual aspects. I just wanted to let you all know that I am doing well and that I’m safe! I’m having loads of fun and am enjoying the feeling of being a literal messenger of Christ. I love you all and miss you!

Love,  Elder Steed

Welcome

Elder Nathan Steed has been called to serve in the Texas Houston mission! He reported to the MTC on September 25, 2013. He asked that I (his sister Chelsea) update his Facebook page over the next couple years so I thought I'd put together a blog where I can post letters and pictures. Be sure to follow this blog for updates and don't forget to write him! I know he would love to hear from you.
